​Dexters are a small, dual-purpose British  breed of cattle, originally from Ireland .  Dexters come in three colours - black, red and dun.  Dexters were brought to Australia in the late 1800s, but had died out as a breed here and were reintroduced in the 1980s.  They were, at that stage, on the rare breeds list.  However, due to popularity, they have increased greatly in numbers.  They can be found now in many countries.
