OUR GENETICS

I began my stud with Jersey and Jersey/Murray Grey foundation cows, (one with a dash of Angus), with the intention of establishing a good milking background and hopefully retaining some polled genes.  Sadly, because of the scarceness of polled bulls, most of the original polled genes have been lost.  However, I am now concentrating on bringing the polled gene back into my breeding.  Other attributes that I have tried to improve are udders, feet and temperament.

In the early days of my stud AI bulls were used.  These included Kalinda Angus, Saltaire Guiness and  Swanfels Augustus Supreme.  Brendon Hall Ferdinand and Adavale Llachlan were used and then I bought my first bull, Niala Ninja. Two Kerridale bulls, Warrior and Barnabas followed him, and the last two bulls used in the herd are Wooroolah Hedgehog and Wooroolah Dixon.

No outside females have been added to my herd and most of my stock are now purebred or grade three.

Recently  LRB  Caesar Augustus (Gus) has joined the herd.  He is a double polled bull and will no doubt  help with my desire to have a polled herd.
